Where to eat – Westminster and Pimlico

Friday, February 8th, 2013

Westminster/Pimlico is not really the part of London you think of visiting for good restaurants.

There a few that are actually worth a visit.

Roux at Parliament Square – Michel Roux Jnr’s first class restaurant, Steve Groves (Master Chef Winner 2009) is head chef.

The Cinnamon Club, Great Smith Street - famous Indian restaurant.

The Rocks - something of a gem on Vauxhall Bridge Road.

and for information a couple of decent breakfast venues, see post

A Wong – Highly acclaimed modern Chinese restaurant

Art of Tapas – a new Tapas bar that’s a bit of find.

Quirinale – its got competition!

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Quirinale although in a basement is light and quite lovely.  I am sure it turns up on a lot of MPs expense claims, as it is very much a politico hangout.

The food is off a high standard. They have an excellent wine list and do a really good cheese course, that you select from the menu. It is served with a selection of biscuits, fruit and preserves.

The Restaurant used to only open during the week, but from September it is opening on Saturday evenings as well. This will be interesting, as this place can not afford to let its standards slip – it used to be unquestionably the best upmarket Italian restaurant in the area, now however it has stiff competition from the nearby Osteria Dell’Angolo.
